Reuse CAPEX Cost Estimator
What does a reuse project cost?
The cost of water reuse remains one of the biggest barriers to scaling adoption globally. Capital expenditure (CAPEX) for reuse projects varies enormously, from straightforward conveyance schemes to complex advanced treatment facilities, and reducing those upfront costs is essential if reuse is to become a mainstream component of water infrastructure.
This CAPEX Cost Estimator was developed by Global Water Intelligence as part of the Scaling Water Reuse Initiative (SWRI), drawing on cost data contributed by SWRI Technology Innovators Working Group members and a decade of real-world reuse projects. It is designed to provide credible, comparable cost benchmarks and to help identify where meaningful cost reductions can realistically be achieved.
The tool is currently in development. We are actively seeking additional project data to improve its accuracy and coverage. If you have project data you would like to contribute, please contact the SWRI project coordinator. Operational cost (OPEX) functionality is planned for a future release.
Calculation reflects the type of treatment, project scale, the market it is delivered in, and the delivery scope you select.
